LOS ANGELES, Calif. (September 6, 2024) – The Petersen Automotive Museum will celebrate a cornerstone of LA car culture on Mexican Independence Day weekend with a parade of iconic lowrider vehicles around the Miracle Mile on Sunday, September 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Curated lowriders are expected for the parade, which will conclude with a car show at the museum featuring Folklorico dancers and carnival-style activities for the whole family. This special event, sponsored by PPG, OPTIMA, Calidad and Guerrero, offers free museum and event admission for youth under 17 (in-person admission only).

  • Youth under 17 receive free admission to the museum and event on Sunday, Sept. 15
  • Showcar tickets are $25 and include the parade reception, light bites, museum general admission and parking.
  • Spectator admission is free and includes access to the show and parking (while supplies last).
  • The event will also feature an all-female panel discussion at noon, with Dr. Denise Sandoval, Professor of Chicana and Chicano Studies at California State University Northridge, Tina L. Blankenship-Early, the first woman elected to Lowrider Magazine’s hall of fame, Sandy Avila, President of Lady Lowrider Car Club, Lorraine Quiñones and Cynthia Martinez.
  • Following the parade, the museum will host an awards ceremony for Best in Show on behalf of event sponsor PPG.
