2024 Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge finalists named

ATLANTA (September 25, 2024) – Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) has announced the finalists in the 2024 Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge.

Now in its fourth year, the Restoration Challenge focuses on classic Porsche sports cars from the 1950s to the 2000s that receive expert attention from  Porsche-trained technicians – all of whom are ardent enthusiasts, just like many owners.

Entries from three sales areas – East, South-Central and West – were judged by a panel of experts from PCNA and Porsche Club of America at area events over the summer. In total, over 55 vehicles were entered in this year’s contest.

“This year’s competition was truly inspiring. Each team’s dedication and passion exemplify the true spirit of craftsmanship and passion for vintage Porsche vehicle restoration.”

Jonathan Sieber, Senior Manager of Porsche Classic

Porsche Centers across the United States were invited to compete in one of three categories: Preservation, Restoration, and Individualization. Winners will head to the finals at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles on October 4th.

Exclusive Bentley Bentayga EWB Azure Riviera Collection Inspired by the World of Yachting

CREWE (September 25, 2024) – Bentley Motors has unveiled the Bentayga Extended Wheelbase (EWB) Azure Riviera Collection, the latest expression of luxury, comfort and bespoke design. Following in the tracks of the first Riviera Collection of Continental GTC launched in 2023, this new collection reimagines Bentley’s iconic Bentayga in its long wheelbase model, in a way that pays tribute to the sophistication and serenity of modern yachting.

The Bentayga EWB Azure Riviera Collection epitomizes Bentley’s commitment to luxury, innovation and wellbeing, embodied by the inclusion of Bentley’s revolutionary airline seats, which offer an unprecedented level of comfort and personalization. This blends the finest materials, craftsmanship, and advanced technologies, ensuring a serene and indulgent driving experience.

Exterior design: Elegance Inspired by the sea
Drawing inspiration from the yachting world, the Bentayga EWB Azure Riviera Collection showcases a striking Aegean Blue exterior, echoing the deep hues of the Mediterranean as found on the French Riviera.

The elegant design is complemented by bespoke 22” five-spoke polished wheels with black-painted pockets as well as Aegean Blue painted lower brightware, front apron, and roof rail inserts. These, together with the Blackline Specification, highlight the vehicle’s refined silhouette and were deliberately chosen to emphasize the clean modern exterior design of modern luxury yachts.

Interior craftsmanship: A sanctuary of luxury
Inside, the Bentayga EWB Azure Riviera Collection offers a bespoke environment with a sophisticated interior color palette that includes Brunel secondary hide, Linen main hide, and Autumn accents. The new Pale Pinstripe Veneer, inspired by the light teak decks of luxury yachts, adds a fresh, contemporary aesthetic to the interior. Special Riviera Collection ‘knot’ embroidery on the headrests and “Azure” embroidery on the seat backs in Autumn accents underscore this collection’s attention to detail and exclusivity.

Comfort and craftsmanship are further emphasized through features such as Mulliner overmats in Brunel with Autumn micro-piping, loose cushions in Linen with Riviera embroidery, and bespoke Riviera treadplates. The Bentayga EWB Azure Riviera Collection is designed to be a haven of comfort and luxury, reflecting the tranquillity and elegance of the yachting lifestyle.

Technology and comfort: A new standard for luxury SUVs
The Bentayga EWB Azure sets a new benchmark for comfort with its Airline Seat Specification, offering 22-way adjustability and advanced climate sensing technology. The Bentley Diamond Illumination, ‘Bang&Olufsen for Bentley’ audio system, Mood Lighting Specification, and rear entertainment options, combine to ensure a bespoke and immersive experience for all passengers. Further luxury features include a heated, duo-tone, three spoke hide trimmed steering wheel, Power Close rear doors and picnic tables with Brunel leather insert.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars North America Inaugurates Private Office New York

NEW YORK (September 25, 2024) – Rolls-Royce Motor Cars unveils Private Office New York, the latest creative outpost in a network which already includes Shanghai and Dubai, as well as the ‘original’ Private Office at the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood. A fifth Private Office will open in Seoul by the end of the year.

This global network of Private Offices has been created to enable the marque to engage even more closely with its global clientele, offering clients a taste of Goodwood nearer their home. Rolls-Royce clients are increasingly ambitious in their desire to create ever more elaborate and deeply personal Bespoke motor cars and the Private Offices offer them opportunities to do just this, complementing the conventional dealership experience to further embed the marque’s reputation as the world’s most client-focused luxury brand.

As Rolls-Royce’s largest market for two decades, North America has seen a dramatic increase in Bespoke complexity and creativity over the past three years. Private Office New York is opening in response to this demand and will further elevate the value of each commission in this key region, supporting the marque’s driving principle of focusing on value creation rather than sales volume.

“Today’s inauguration of a permanent Private Office in New York marks a key moment for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in the Americas. Our investment in this office is in response to the steadily increasing engagement we see from our North American clients in this region, constantly challenging our designers to create and develop even more exciting and ambitious commissions. We look forward to welcoming our clients here, to talk with our specially trained designers as they bring their ideas to life in their own, unique Bespoke Rolls-Royce. Private Office New York will complement and support our regional Dealer Partners by enhancing our clients’ experiences of Rolls-Royce to new levels.”

Chris Brownridge, Chief Executive, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars

Rolls-Royce Private Office New York is in the heart of New York City’s vibrant and increasingly luxury-focused Meatpacking District. Available by appointment, it offers North American clients the opportunity to interact directly with a US-based designer and specialist client experience manager. Through conversation and research, the Private Office experts work with the client to understand their wishes, desires and dreams. The luxurious studio houses a vast array of samples: fabrics, paints, leathers, and textiles in diverse colors and finishes as well as locally-sourced artworks and artefacts, curated to inspire the creative process. During this process, designers and clients work together to create a unique Rolls-Royce which reflects the individual’s tastes and personality. Once the initial design is agreed upon, they will together follow the progress of the commission and communicate directly with the artisans in Goodwood, who are entrusted with transforming the visions into a one-of-one masterpiece.

Private Office New York will also give clients access to future Rolls-Royce Private Collections. These exclusive, themed collections highlight the Bespoke Collective’s artistry, with each project extending inspiring narratives through craft, design, and engineering. They act as showcases for the marque’s creative and technical capabilities, thereby inspiring clients to ever-more elaborate personal creations.

ON THE BLOCK: Rare Porsche 911 SC RS Highlights Broad Arrow Chattanooga Auction 2024

GROSSE POINT, Mich. (September 24, 2024) – Broad Arrow Auctions, a Hagerty (NYSE: HGTY) company, is delighted to present the Porsche 911 SC RS Gruppe B “Evolutionsserie,” a veritable “missing link” in any distinguished collection of Porsche Carrera RS models. Set to headline Broad Arrow’s inaugural Chattanooga Auction on October 12 in partnership with the Chattanooga Motorcar Festival, the 1984 Porsche 911 SC RS Gruppe B “Evolutionsserie”, chassis no. 021 (Est. $2,600,000 – $3,500,000), features in the video hosted by Broad Arrow Car Specialist, Ambassador, and Porsche expert, Ray Shaffer.

Much like the vaunted 911 R, a mere 21 examples of the 1984 Porsche Type 954 —sometimes known as the 911 Evolutionsserie and best known as the 911 SC RS—were produced by Porsche Motorsport for FIA Group B World Rally competition. The project took a standard 911 SC and turned it into a rally star via significant weight reduction, power from the type “930/18” 3.0-liter flat-six engine pushed through the race-spec five-speed gearbox, lightweight internal competition components, and a free-flowing dual race exhaust. The car on offer, chassis no. 021, was originally delivered to the van Dijk Racing Team of the Netherlands in February 1984, who campaigned the car on its sole competition outing at the 1984 Tour de Corse, where it finished 14th as the highest placed Porsche. Tycho van Dijk held on to the car following its brief racing career, maintaining the SC RS in a remarkably unaltered state until 2004, when it was sold to the current owner, a renowned Porsche collector, with a mere 4,979 original kilometers.

Extensively documented, chassis no. 021 is presented at Broad Arrow’s Chattanooga Auction complete with its original matching-numbers engine and transmission, original interior, and original components. Offered with a Porsche Classic Technical Certificate, a digital copy of its factory build sheet, a factory SC RS technical manual, 1984 Tour de Corse route books, and a Jürgen Barth report, this two-owner, dual-use Group B rally car offers its next caretaker a host of opportunities on both road and track.

“The 1984 911 SC RS Gruppe B “Evolutionsserie” is potentially the missing piece of a collection that you didn’t know was missing. Among the rarest of RS variants, the SC RS appeals not only to Group B Rally enthusiasts but also to next-gen collectors assembling the ultimate group of Carrera RennSport models.”

Ray Shaffer, Broad Arrow Car Specialist, Ambassador, and Porsche expert

Collectors relish the opportunity to own the first or last example in a limited production run, and chassis no. 021 is the final SC RS produced. As a homologated car, the SC RS is a road-legal race car, and this particular example offers the best of both worlds with significant, yet limited periodcompetition history, having been sparingly used ever since. It is presented in wonderful, low-mileage, matching numbers condition, two-owners from new, extensively documented, and a rare sight at auction. For the ultimate Porsche collector, the time is now.”

Joining the SC RS at the Chattanooga Auction, offered from the same renowned Porsche collection, are two additional rarities: a 1998 Porsche 911 Carrera S “Factory One-Off” Cabriolet and a 1989 Porsche 911 Speedster “Full Turbo Look”. The 911 Carrera S “Factory One-Off” Cabriolet is a true ‘one-of-one’ as the singular Turbo-bodied, rear wheel drive 993-generation Carrera S Cabriolet produced by Porsche. Ordered by a Porsche VIP and fully conceived by Porsche Exclusive (known today as Porsche Sonderwunsch), the Cabriolet is finished in classic Guards Red with “Z-Code” Flamenco Red carpeting and highly optioned with a full leather interior, heated Nappa leather seats, automatic air conditioning, and more. Offered with just 16,436 kilometers, the matching-numbers car is expected to bring in excess of $400,000.

Additional Porsche offerings at Broad Arrow’s Chattanooga Auction include:

  • 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Tribute to Carrera RS Package, among the rarest modern Porsche models available (Estimate: $450,000 – $550,000).
  • A1994 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6, fresh from an engine rebuild and ready to deliver a thrilling driving experience (Estimate: $400,000 – $450,000).
  • A2019 Porsche 911 Speedster Heritage Design Package, a modern classic and a faithful tribute to the marque’s rich sporting heritage (Est. $375,000 – $425,000, offered from The Retro Motors Collection).
  • A “showroom fresh” 2023 Porsche 911 Dakar (Estimate: $325,000 – $375,000).
  • An exceptionally original, two-owner, Paint-to-Sample 1988 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet (Estimate: $225,000 – $250,000).
  • A low-mileage 1996 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, offered from the final air-cooled generation of the 911 with a 3.6-liter flat-six engine and six-speed manual (Estimate: $160,000 – $180,000).
  • A highly optioned, six-speed manual 1996 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe (Estimate: $110,000 – $130,000, offered without reserve)
  • An elegantly finished 2008 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet, desirably equipped with a six-speed manual transmission (Estimate: $35,000 – $50,000, offered without reserve)

The Chattanooga Auction unites the fast-growing Motorcar Festival, now in its fifth year, with a Broad Arrow boutique auction set to feature a wide array of collector cars from post-war classics through to modern collectibles. The auction is set for Saturday, October 12 at 1:00 pm ET, with preview on Friday, October 11 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm as well as Saturday morning from 9:00 am through auction start. Collectors are invited to register to bid via broadarrowauctions.com. The complete digital catalog will be available soon.
