Porsches on Display
As long-term partners of Luftgekühlt, the Meguiar’s team located a magnificent quartet of air-cooled Porsches to display inside the fire station. Taking pride of place will be an early model Porsche 911 Turbo Carrera belonging to Makellos Classics in Escondido, CA. The Porsche specialist restored the totally stock 1976 example, which will form part of the 911 Turbo’s 50th anniversary celebration at the show.

The second car, a 1982 Porsche 911 SC belonging to John King, is coming to Luft 10 from Rico Customs in The Netherlands via Italy. The RC.06 has a short stroke engine conversion, increasing its 3.0L capacity to 3.2L. Fitted with Jenvey throttle bodies and Rico mapping, the engine exceeded 250hp on the dyno.

Finished by Porsche in PTS (paint to sample) Black Olive, it’s complimented by a black interior with Race RC trim, 911R rollcage and vintage bucket seats. The car weighs around 2200 lb to guarantee it puts a smile on your face.

Greg Bartley owns the Tangerine Orange 1967 911S, which was fully restored in March 2023 by Makellos Classics. The bare metal restoration retained the original narrow body; the gleaming paint contrasted by a white interior with the classic Porsche “Pepita” cloth upholstery.

With the original 2.0L engine unavailable, the owner opted for a fully built twin-plug 3.5L equipped with Motec engine management and independent throttle bodies. The 911S also has a full 935 suspension package including a KW Clubsport coilover conversion.

The fourth car is a 1972 Porsche 911 finished in the rare Porsche Smyrna Green. The car also had a bare metal restoration by Makellos Classics before the team added 911 ST-spec fender flares front and rear, as well as a fuel filler in the center of the hood.

Completed a few days prior to its debut at Luft 10, the 911 sports another twin-plug 3.5L engine with Rothsport injection and ITBs. The 911 will be housed in Engine Company No2 Firehouse on Courthouse Square along with the other three cars listed here.
