PARIS (February 7, 2025) – Bonhams|Cars made a triumphant return to the historic Grand Palais during Paris’ annual Rétromobile, delivering an extraordinary auction that captivated a global audience. After 17 years of hosting sales during Retromobile, Bonhams|Cars re-established its presence at the newly renovated Grand Palais following a three-year hiatus. Over three days, the event welcomed 10,000 visitors under the iconic glass nave, presenting a dazzling lineup of 98 collector cars, as well as automobilia and motorcycles.

Buyers from 18 countries participated in the sale, with the majority hailing from Europe, the United States, and Asia. The 162-lot sale achieved a total of €18 million and cars recorded an impressive 91% sell-through rate, underscoring its global appeal and the enduring passion for classic and collector cars.

Two rare and historically significant Ferraris were among the highlights of the sale, offered with no reserve. These vehicles, which played pivotal roles in Ferrari’s legacy of performance and elegance, captivated the audience with the 1950 Ferrari 166 MM Barchetta Touring, selling for €2.8 million and the 1955 Ferrari 555 Super Squalo, selling for €1.98 million.

Adding to the excitement, two pre-war Bugatti models showcased the timeless craftsmanship and engineering brilliance of the marque. The 1925 Bugatti Type 35 Grand Prix Two-Seater, sold for €759,000, and the 1936 Bugatti Type 57 Cabriolet, sold for €391,000.

A standout section of the sale featured a collection of Horch classics, which achieved exceptional results and far exceeded their estimates. The enduring appeal of these historic models were evidenced by the following strong results:

– 1938 Horch 830 BL, sold for 12x its estimate at $241,600.
– 1936 Horch 851 Limousine, sold for 7x its estimate at $345,000.
– 1939 Horch 853A Sport Cabriolet, sold for 5x its estimate at $414,000.
