SANT’AGATA BOLOGNESE (November 4, 2024) – For Automobili Lamborghini, November is synonymous with Movember, a month dedicated to raising awareness about men’s health. For the fourth consecutive year, the company has developed various initiatives, engaging customers and enthusiasts to draw attention to the charitable organization, contributing to the prevention and treatment of often overlooked male health issues.

Movember was founded in London in 2003 with the goal of supporting activities raising awareness of men’s health around important issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide. The association invites anyone wishing to support these causes, even symbolically, to grow a moustache during November as a gesture of solidarity. Today, Movember stands as the leading charity in this field, with over 1,320 projects carried out globally.

“Since 2021, we have supported Movember by engaging our dealers worldwide and raising awareness about men’s health among our customers. We are extremely proud of this partnership, which allows us to give voice to often under-discussed topics. Through our contribution, we are committed to building greater awareness of Movember and these essential topics, allowing the organization to continue playing a crucial role in supporting men’s health worldwide.”

– Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini

The first Movember-themed event by Automobili Lamborghini took place on November 2 in Miami, where over 150 Lamborghinis belonging to customers from seven Florida dealers paraded the city’s streets as part of the “Bull Run,” an iconic Lamborghini rally held by various dealers across five continents. With unmistakable mustache decals on the hoods, the cars traveled through some of the city’s most scenic locations, spreading the Movember message and ending the route in iconic Miami Beach.

In addition to involving customers and dealerships worldwide, Automobili Lamborghini has developed a range of activities throughout the month to maximize Movember’s visibility. This year’s highlights include an interactive installation hosted at the Lamborghini Museum. Following a “moustache trail” from the museum entrance, visitors will reach a dedicated area featuring a Lamborghini adorned with a moustache and a container filled with nuts. By making a voluntary donation to Movember, visitors can participate in the game, trying to guess the exact number of nuts in the container. The visitor who guesses correctly or gets closest to the correct number will win an Automobili Lamborghini backpack.

Innovation, a hallmark of Automobili Lamborghini, will also play a role. Until 14 November, players of Asphalt Legends Unite, the popular racing video game developed by Gameloft, can purchase a special Movember-themed livery with a moustache for the Revuelto[1] and Huracán STO[2] models directly from the in-game store, created specifically for this initiative.

A month filled with international initiatives and events for Automobili Lamborghini and its global dealers, dedicated to promoting men’s health and well-being on a global scale, increasing awareness of crucial issues.

SANT’AGATA BOLOGNESE (October 28, 2024) – The 2024 edition of the Autostyle Design Competition, the international event dedicated to design in the automotive sphere, took place on the morning of Friday, October 25 at the picturesque Villa Schiarino Lena, located just outside Mantua and attended by some of the most prestigious Style Centers worldwide.

During the event, the designers shared the latest innovations and trends in the world of automotive design, offering an in-depth view of not only automobile evolution but also other sectors of industrial design. The engaging presentations enabled attendees to understand how creativity and innovation continue to redefine the future of mobility.

Automobili Lamborghini was represented with a presentation by its Design Director Mitja Borkert and his team at the Centro Stile, who illustrated the latest innovations from the House of Sant’Agata Bolognese, including the new HPEV super sports car Temerario[1], a perfect example of Lamborghini’s design DNA.

“I’m delighted that Lamborghini has once again participated in the Autostyle Design Competition,” said “It’s an event brimming with interesting ideas and exchanges, relevant for both enthusiasts and those who work in the world of automotive design. It’s always a pleasure to be able to talk about and share what makes the style that characterizes Lamborghini’s DNA unique.”

Mitja Borkert, Design Director

On the lawns of the villa, outstanding vehicles were displayed including both the Temerario and its Alleggerita version, the Revuelto, and the Urus SE, offering attendees a chance to admire up close some of the most iconic and innovative cars on the international automotive scene.

The day concluded with the awards ceremony for the ten young finalists entered in the Design Competition, who study at the leading automotive design institutes. Their participation and the designs presented underscored once again the importance of the event as a platform for the future of automotive design.

The event is promoted by Berman S.p.A., the Italian company founded by Prof. Roberto Artioli that produces OEM components for the largest automotive companies.

SANT’AGATA BOLOGNESE (October 24, 2024) – For the second consecutive year Automobili Lamborghini attends the Auto e Moto d’Epoca show at the Bologna Fairgrounds. Representing the House of Sant’Agata Bolognese with a dedicated stand will be Lamborghini Polo Storico, the department responsible for preserving and promoting the brand’s history by managing the company archives, carrying out vehicle restoration, and certifying classic Lamborghinis up to the last series of Diablo. An important point of reference for enthusiasts and collectors from around the world, Polo Storico is showing the body of a 1968 Miura S undergoing restoration, and a 1994 Diablo SE. Lamborghini icons in their own right, these two models are also significant examples of the work of Polo Storico. The Miura, currently under restoration, offers a unique view of the restoration process, as the sheet-metaling of the front part has already been completed while the rear part is still in its unfinished state without bodywork. The Diablo SE, on the other hand, is preserved in its original condition and arrived from a private collector in the United States just a few months ago to be inspected and subsequently granted the certification of authenticity from Polo Storico.

“After last year’s extraordinary debut, when we displayed an Espada at the beginning of restoration, this year we are back at Auto e Moto d’Epoca with a car that represents a significant phase of the work we carry out. The Miura S, with its sheet-metaling currently in process, and the Diablo SE, under analysis to receive certification from Polo Storico, gives visitors the opportunity to admire two extraordinary and rare models at first hand, and appreciate the value of a restoration certified by Lamborghini.”

Alessandro Farmeschi, Automobili Lamborghini After Sales Director

The Miura S displayed in Bologna was completed on 13 December 1968, destined to be sent to Rome. Produced with a white exterior and mustard color interior, the car is on show following the restoration of its frame and the “skins” (a technical term that indicates the body coverings). The frame has already been repainted in its original black color while the skins are still in bare metal, waiting to be prepared for final painting. The Miura S, the second version of the car that rewrote the history of luxury super sports cars and inaugurated the concept of “supercar”, was presented for the first time at the Turin Motor Show in November 1968, exhibiting technical and frame improvements, improved trims, and greater power and speed compared to the already incredibly fast previous series.

The Diablo SE 30 on display is number 99 of the limited production of just 150 units. The model was unveiled by Lamborghini in September 1993 to celebrate the company’s 30th anniversary, characterized by the exterior color created for this edition, a bright purple known as the “Lambo Thirty”. The Diablo SE 30 on display in Bologna was produced in 1994 and delivered to Germany in April 1995. It is equipped with a radio with CD player, four-point harness seat belts, extinguisher, and central insert of the steering wheel in gray leather. The SE 30 series is distinguished by its significant weight reduction of 125 kg, achieved by the extensive use of carbon fiber for the paneling and the wheels in magnesium alloy. Its main features include a redesigned engine hood, a functional adjustable rear spoiler, and special alloy wheels. The chassis was improved with the introduction of innovative torsion bars that could be adjusted from the cockpit, while the electronic management system of the engine, with specifically developed cylinder heads and intake manifolds, increased the power output to 525 CV at 7000 rpm.

The Automobili Lamborghini stand is located in Pavilion 31 at the Bologna Fairground, stand A9. The show will be held October 24-27, with opening hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 25 and 26).

SANT’AGATA BOLOGNESE (October 22, 2024) – Unveiled at Monterey Car Week 2024, the Temerario1 has become a new benchmark in the super sports car segment owing to its unrivaled performance features: not only the hybrid powertrain combining a twin-turbo V8 engine with three axial flow electric motors, delivering a total power output of 920 CV, but also the new approach to chassis design.

Rouven Mohr, Chief Technical Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, unmasks the new Temerario with a detailed description of the new multi-technology spaceframe chassis, designed to withstand the higher loads deriving from the hybrid power unit, combining excellent mechanical qualities with remarkable efficiency in weight reduction.

These technologies made it possible to minimize the constructional complexity of the spaceframe, while at the same time enabling a high level of functional integration of the hybrid powertrain. In fact, the number of structural components has been reduced by 50%, along with an 80% reduction of heat welds. The new construction archetype has led to a 25% increase in torsional stiffness compared to the previous generation spaceframe, making a significant contribution to the vehicle’s excellent driving dynamics.

ZION NATIONAL PARK, Utah (September 18, 2024) – Lamborghini Esperienza Avventura Zion welcomed owners and their guests for an exclusive three-day event earlier this month. The program covered over 200 miles of dramatic landscape driving the Urus S[1], a Super SUV that combines maximum capability and comfort on any terrain or road condition. Offering one-of-a-kind curated routes for high-performance driving and unique culinary experiences, guests set off on their journey while taking in the breathtaking beauty of Zion National Park’s rugged topography. Conquering the wilderness while enjoying the unique accommodations of Autocamp Zion, the Lamborghini community came together in the brand’s true spirit of adventure and excellence.

The desert oasis was named Zion, which in ancient Hebrew means “sanctuary” or “refuge”. Deep and spectacular canyons in this protected portion of the Virgin River Valley truly provide a safe haven to wildlife and humans alike. The convoy of Urus S traveled the on and off-road dynamic route engulfed by massive cream, pink and red sandstone cliffs that soared into a brilliant blue sky.  This was indeed “Driving Humans Beyond” with the intention to push the limits and satisfy a craving for exploration, converging with something bigger than oneself amongst Zion’s reverent cliff faces.

On the first day, guests arrived in their Urus S to Autocamp Zion, offering luxurious camp-like accommodations, where they checked into their own private Airstream and relaxed in the majestic surroundings. They then enjoyed a welcome reception and an open-air glamp dinner grilled under the stars.

The following morning, guests prepared to tackle the winding roads of Zion National Park and set out on a drive that saw the Esperienza Avventura group traverse 136 miles. The route provided a coffee stop at Zion Mountain Ranch, an exploration of Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, followed by an off-the-grid luncheon at the Zion Wright Family Ranch and horseback riding through the range. That evening, guests were welcomed back to Autocamp to decompress and partake in a lavish “farm-to-table” dinner. The night concluded near the warmth of the camp’s firepits.

Esperienza Avventura Zion and the Super SUV Urus S together created new friendships and lasting memories in the great outdoors for the Lamborghini community. The final day of the program enabled departing guests to drive to the airport in their Urus S to close out their adventure behind the wheel.

SANT’AGATA BOLOGNESE/CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA, Calif. (August 17, 2024) – Automobili Lamborghini unveiled the Temerario[1], the legendary Italian marque’s new twin-turbo V8 hybrid super sports car, at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, the highlight of the annual Monterey Car Week in California. Succeeding the Huracán[2], the Temerario sets a new benchmark for the super sports car segment with a total power output of 920 CV, reaching a top speed of more than 210 mph (over 340 km/h) and accelerating from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 2.7 seconds. The Temerario is the second Lamborghini HPEV (High Performance Electrified Vehicle) and third step in the electrification strategy for the company, completing the hybridization of the entire Lamborghini lineup following the Revuelto[3] and the Urus SE[4].

The Temerario replaces the Lamborghini Huracán, which debuted in 2014 and has been the greatest-selling super sports car in the history of the Sant’Agata Bolognese-based carmaker. As stated by Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini, “Every new Lamborghini must surpass its forerunners in performance terms.” With the Temerario, the new hybrid plug-in reaches a new paradigm in terms of performance, sportiness and driving pleasure. The Temerario is the first and only production super sports car engine able to reach 10,000 rpm: a feat typically only achieved in motorsports.

With the Temerario, we’ve exceeded our expectations with what the mid-engine sports car can be in terms of performance and design,” said Winkelmann. “The Temerario completes the next chapter in our Direzione Cor Tauri plan by hybridizing the full product line, while we continue the development of our full electric model debuting at the end of the decade.”

– Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Automobili Lamborghini

In addition to the Temerario, the full hybrid product line took center stage at the annual automotive event, including the flagship Revuelto and super SUV Urus SE. The Revuelto features a 6.5-liter V12 mid-engine with 1,015 CV and a top speed of 217 mph (over 350 km/h). While the Urus SE features a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine, which delivers a total output of 800 CV, reaching a top speed of 194 mph (312 km/h).

Alongside its global unveiling, the Temerario made its virtual debut in the Lamborghini Lab, the official design and driving experience on Roblox, created by Automobili Lamborghini to inspire new generations. In the virtual realm, you can customize your own Temerario by using colors and options from Lamborghini’s Ad Personam studio. Experience unparalleled performance as you take your customized supercar on the track, competing with friends and challengers worldwide.

SANT’AGATA BOLGNESE/PORTO CERVO (July, 15, 2024) Automobili Lamborghini has created an exclusive and luxurious Lounge in Porto Cervo for the sixth summer in a row. This summer, the Lamborghini Lounge Porto Cervo, located on Promenade du Port in via Porto Vecchio, will welcome Lamborghini owners traveling to Costa Smeralda as well as greet new customers at exclusive events and driving activities on some of Sardinia’s most beautiful roads under extraordinary sunsets. The lounge will remain open until September 10th, accessible by appointment, serving as the hub for test drive opportunities of the new Lamborghini Revuelto[1] and Urus Performante[2] and location for exclusive events organized by Lamborghini dealers.

All Lamborghini Lounges, whether permanent (such as those in New York and Tokyo) or temporary (such as in Doha or Dubai), are a point of reference for Lamborghini VIP customers and guests, combining the lifestyle of Lamborghini with the latest products and embracing at fullest the brand’s DNA. The Lounge Porto Cervo, with its 600-square-meter inside area and additional private patio, offers an immersive 360° brand experience through several elements, with furnishings designed in collaboration with partners Living Divani, Lamborghini scent developed together with Culti Milano, the Lamborghini footwear collection designed with Tod’s, and the 3T bike inspired to Lamborghini design and colors.

Inside, the main stars are two of the most recent super sports cars from Sant’Agata Bolognese: Revuelto the first super sports V12 hybrid plug-in and the “two hearted” Urus SE[3]. The new Lamborghini Revuelto, showcased in Ad Personam Grigio Artis (grey) color featuring Nero Ade and Rosso Andra (red) contrast interiors, is the marque’s first V12 super sports plug-in hybrid HPEV (High Performance Electrified Vehicle) and represents a new paradigm in terms of performance, sportiness and driving pleasure from its unprecedented new architecture; innovative design; maximum-efficiency aerodynamics; and a new carbon frame concept.  The recently presented in Beijing, Urus SE, the first Plug-in Hybrid Super SUV, featuring new design, on-board technology and a V8 twin turbo engine that together with the electric powertrain offers a luxurious and high-performance SUV experience with 800 CV. The Super SUV is showcased in Arancio Egon (orange) launch color in combination with Arancio Apodis (orange) interiors.

Guests are welcomed by the distinctive Lamborghini scent in every corner of the lounge and can enjoy the finest Italian Lavazza espresso in the living area furnished by the brand’s Italian partner Living Divani. While exploring the lounge, guests will be embraced by Tod’s corner that is showcasing the branded Gommini and Sneakers – expression of Italian lifestyle. The guests can then take a closer look at the 3T bike Racemax Boost x Automobili Lamborghini. A fully made-in-Italy e-bike inspired by Lanzador, the Lamborghini vision concept car, with a carbon frame equipped with the efficient Mahle X-20 motor and a flat bar handlebar for a more excellent handling and comfort. The experience for the guests continues exploring – dedicated areas to Accessori Originali – the Lamborghini dedicated program to After Sales accessories specific for each Lamborghini model with Akrapovic racing exhausts for Urus S.

A key area of the Lounge Porto Cervo is the seasonal Ad Personam Studio: the dedicated area where even the most demanding Lamborghini customers can release their creativity to configure the super sports car of their dreams. In a vast assortment of samples, a plentitude of exterior colors, interior upholsteries, finishes, and details available at Lamborghini can be selected in the virtual configurator with a Lamborghini product specialist. The brand’s main Ad Personam Studio, located in Sant’Agata Bolognese, showcases more than 400 colors in its portfolio, offering customers infinite possibilities to express their personality in their new super sports cars.

Urus SE
The lastly presented and the first hybrid plug-in version of the Lamborghini Super SUV, opens a new chapter in the history of the marque. The SE features a new design, optimized aerodynamics, unprecedented on-board technology and an 800 CV hybrid powertrain, the PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) version moves on Urus S in terms of comfort, performance, efficiency, emissions and driving pleasure. Thanks to its “two hearts”, thermal and electric, the torque and power values are the highest ever, giving the SE a unique place in its category and boasting an 80% reduction in emissions.

The twin-turbo 4.0 V8 engine has been re-engineered to work in optimal synergy with the electric powertrain of the SSUV. The Internal Combustion Engine develops 620 CV of power (456 kW) and 800 Nm of driving torque; the combustion unit is combined with an electric powertrain delivering 192 CV (141 kW) and 483 Nm of torque. In delivering maximum output the main focus has been on the calibration strategy between ICE and e-motor, reaching a total output of 800 CV to ensure an optimal power curve in every driving mode and on every surface. A 25.9-kWh lithium-ion battery is situated below the load floor and above the electronically controlled rear differential.

The design of Urus SE highlights the dynamics of the form, accentuating the vehicle’s sportiness and muscularity. The front section features a new hood with a floating design, where the absence of the cut-off line gives a sense of continuity and amplifies the athletic style of the Urus SE, recalling certain new styling concepts introduced by the Revuelto.  Other new elements include the headlight clusters that feature matrix LED technology, introducing a brand-new light signature inspired by the tail of the Lamborghini brand’s bull, along with a redesigned bumper and front grill.

Unique in its category, the Urus SE offers greater torque and power at any rpm or driving condition thanks also to “tamburo”. The system develops a total power output of 800 CV (588 kW) at 6000 rpm and a total torque of 950 Nm already available at 1750 rpm and up to 5750 rpm, ensuring best-in-class performance from every angle. This is also thanks to a further enhanced weight-to-power ratio: 3.13 kg/CV (compared to 3.3 in the Urus S). The Urus SE sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds (Urus S: 3.5) and from 0 to 200 km/h in just 11.2 seconds (Urus S: 12.5), reaching a top speed of 312 km/h (Urus S: 305 km/h). These figures make the SE the most powerful Urus ever and the fastest production car in the segment, setting a new benchmark in the Super SUV category.

Revuelto
The Lamborghini Revuelto is the first super sports V12 hybrid plug-in HPEV (High Performance Electrified Vehicle). Revuelto defines a new paradigm in terms of performance, sportiness, and driving pleasure from its unprecedented new architecture, innovative design, maximum-efficiency aerodynamics, and a new carbon frame concept. An output of 1015 CV is delivered from the combined power of an entirely new combustion engine together with three electric motors, alongside a double-clutch gearbox that makes its debut on a 12-cylinder Lamborghini for the first time.

The powertrain combines high specific power elements: the new 128 CV/liter combustion engine works synergistically with two front axial flux motors that deliver an outstanding weight-to-power ratio, with a radial flux electric motor positioned above the first eight-speed double-clutch gearbox debuting on a 12-cylinder Lamborghini. The three electric motors are powered by a lithium-ion high specific power (4500 W/kg) battery pack that also supports a fully electric drive mode.

Carbon fiber, produced via artisan craftsmanship in the Sant’Agata Bolognese factory, is the principal structural element within the supercar, used not only in the monofuselage and frame but also in all elements of the bodywork apart from the doors and bumpers. The extensive use of carbon fiber and lightweight materials, combined with the potent engine power, contributes to achieving the best weight-to-power ratio in the history of Lamborghini: 1.75 kg/CV.

Revuelto combines the performance attributes with outstanding new aerodynamic design to deliver performance figures at the peak of its segment: acceleration from 0-100 km/h in only 2.5 seconds; 0-200 km/h in less than seven seconds; and a top speed of more than 350 km/h. These numbers fit with its exceptional dynamism thanks to the introduction of electric torque vectoring and four-wheel drive available also in fully electric drive mode, ensuring the Revuelto super sports car expresses its amplified qualities both on track and in daily driving.

GOODWOOD/SANT’AGATA BOLOGNESE (July 12, 2024) – The Lamborghini Revuelto[1], the first High Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV) and new Urus SE[2], the PHEV Super SUV, took prime position in this year’s Lamborghini Lounge at Goodwood Festival of Speed, as well as running ‘up the hill’ in the Supercar and First Glance classes, watched by thousands of spectators.

“Goodwood Festival of Speed provides Lamborghini with the perfect environment in which to meet owners and enthusiasts, who love the opportunity to get close to our cars on display as well as the emotive experience of witnessing our super sports models in action. Lamborghini continues on its hybridization path, with the new Revuelto and Urus SE shown in Goodwood both important examples of our successful product strategy, continuing the aesthetic and emotional appeal of the brand as well as delivering benchmarking technology and performance.”

Stephan Winkelmann, Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and CEO

The one-off Revuelto displayed at the Lamborghini Lounge was created by Lamborghini’s Ad Personam department especially to celebrate the Italian marque’s presence at the Festival of Speed, as well as demonstrate the virtually limitless potential for personalization of a new Lamborghini. With an exterior crafted in grey Grigio Acheso with red Rosso Mimir pinstripes and detailing, the very sporty Revuelto features extensive lightweight carbon fiber including bumpers, sills and door fins, with a black Nero Nemesis roof, matt black tailpipes and black 22” rims. A Nero Nemesis livery stripe on the front hood with Rosso Mimir pinstripe is complemented by the red pinstripe detailing on the roofline, splitters, wing mirrors and lower part of the car. The interior reflects the exterior specification with black Nero Ade upholstery and red Rosso Alala seat piping and stitching on seats and door panels; red seatbelts; and interior carbon fiber features including the steering wheel and dashboard.  The right-hand drive Revuelto will be delivered to a UK client.

Piloted by Lamborghini Squadra Corse drivers, the Revuelto in the Supercar Paddock is joined by the Urus SE making its UK dynamic debut in the First Glance class. Unveiled at the Beijing auto show earlier this year, the PHEV Urus SE delivers 800 CV from its hybrid powertrain, with a fresh design incorporating revised aerodynamics and new technological solutions: its ‘two hearts’ combination of combustion engine and electric motor achieves sensational torque and performance values, and an 80 percent reduction in emissions compared to the Urus S.  The Urus SE arrives in markets worldwide from 2025 with, like the Revuelto, orders already covering the first 24 months of production.

Joining the Revuelto in the Supercar Paddock is a Huracán Tecnica; a Huracán EVO Spyder in a special Diablo 30th anniversary viola colour; and a Huracán Sterrato: with the much-anticipated successor to the Huracán due to be unveiled later this year, the Festival of Speed gives the V10 super sports cars and their fans the opportunity to celebrate the Huracáns’ inimitable design and naturally-aspirated engines on the 1.16-mile (1.86 km) Goodwood hill run.

The Lamborghini Lounge will host over 500 owners over the four-day Festival of Speed event, making the pilgrimage to Goodwood, Sussex, at the invite of the eleven-strong UK dealer network.

SANT’AGATA BOLOGNESE/CELEBRATION, Fla. (June 18, 2024) – One of the top automotive cult films of all times is, without a doubt, “The Cannonball Run”. To celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Countach LP 400 S that starred in the movie, Automobili Lamborghini brought together the exceptional female crew of actresses Adrienne Barbeau and Tara Buckman for the first time since the movie’s release on 19 June 1981.

This Lamborghini Countach LP 400 S was produced forty-five years ago in November 1979. With a Nero (black) exterior and Senape (mustard) interior, this Countach was shipped to the then SEA dealership in Rome and, from there, it was most likely sold directly in the US, ending up in Florida. Its owner was a friend of the movie’s director and was signed on to begin its legend that led it to capture a place in American history.

As “stage make-up”, it was given a wing and two full-beam headlights on the nose, a spoiler, three antennas and 12 exhaust pipes in back, along with two supplementary fake instruments in front of the passenger’s seat. After the filming ended, the Countach was returned to its legitimate owner, but didn’t shed its unique transformations especially made for it. In 2009, the car found a new owner, Jeff Ippoliti, an enthusiast originally from New York but now living in Florida who, as a boy, when watching the opening scene of the movie in 1981 never imagined that he would one day own the same car that had made him dream on the screen. “I had always been crazy about cars,” Ippoliti recalled, “but the opening of the movie was the first time I got to see and hear the Countach in motion, and I was captivated! I didn’t see it in person for the first time until twenty-six years later, and it took me another eighteen months of negotiations before I managed to take it home.”

The movie
“The Cannonball Run” was inspired by the actual Cannonball race, in which the participating cars had to cross the United States, starting off from New York and finishing in Los Angeles, in the shortest possible time. To say the least, the movie’s cast was outstanding, with actors such as Roger Moore, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., and Jackie Chan, and actresses such as Farrah Fawcett, Adrienne Barbeau and Tara Buckman. The latter two played the race’s only all-female crew and drove the Countach, which won the race. Among the most memorable scenes is the initial three-minute police chase, in which the Countach’s 12-cylinder engine fitted with carburetors was added to the soundtrack. Also during the movie’s opening is a scene in which the Countach stops abruptly and the passenger gets out of the cockpit to spray-paint an “X” on a road sign. These scenes became a legendary reference among car lovers, so much so they became part of American tradition and ensured the Countach would become one of the very few cars “registered” at the Library of Congress.

The US Library of Congress
Any artifact that is the fruit of human genius can be registered so that all the knowledge connected to it is filed to remain available, protected for future generations, in one of the most respected and traditional institutions of the United States of America, the Library of Congress. To do so, however, it must first be acknowledged as an object of extraordinary importance for American history, society and tradition. Once this recognition has been obtained – and as of today there are just over 30 cars that have achieved it – all the knowledge linked to that specific car, from the construction design to the photos, from the original documents to those that relate its history, are preserved and archived in the halls of the Library of Congress. The Countach LP 400 S of the movie was deemed worthy of this honor and became the 30th car to receive it in 2021, the year when the movie’s 40th anniversary was celebrated.

Memories of the stars
They hadn’t met in person since they acted in the movie together in 1981. This is why the interview and account given by the stars Adrienne Barbeau and Tara Buckman can be considered extraordinary. The same Countach that they had driven back then, serving as the backdrop, made it all even more fascinating. And their memories began to surface. They admit that neither one had seen, or much less driven, a Lamborghini before. On the other hand, it shouldn’t be forgotten that at the time Lamborghini produced little more than fifty cars a year.

“I immediately thought it was beautiful, simply beautiful, and it still is,” began Adrienne Barbeau, who played the part of Marcie Thatcher in the movie. “We had the best car and it was definitely the most beautiful of all,” added Tara Buckman, who was Jill Rivers in the movie. On why it was precisely the Countach chosen to win the race, Barbeau said, “I think that the Countach has the look of a winner, none of the others could have won. They were not in its league. And then the opening scene, with that soundtrack and the sight of the Countach racing along and playing hide-and-seek with the police car. Only the Countach could achieve an effect like that.”

In answer to the question of whether they ever would have expected the movie to arrive at the legendary status that surrounds it today, they both said, “Never, not even for a second, and not just us. No one during the filming would have expected this incredible, long-lasting success!”

“I had never realized how successful the movie was until when people started to ask me for my autograph. Still today,” Barbeau added, “in spite of my success as an actress in horror movies and playing Cat Woman in the Batman movie, people ask me above all to autograph Countach model cars.”

“It’s impossible for me, too, to remember how many times I signed a photo or a model car of the Countach!,” Buckman added.

A few of their favorite scenes: “The one where Tara gets out of the car and sprays an X on the road sign,” said Barbeau. Whereas for Tara Buckman it was, “the opening scene, with the police car chasing the Countach. There are lots of movies with great opening scenes, but this is definitely one of the best ever.”

When asked how they thought this movie has impacted American culture and society, Barbeau replied, “Everyone knows it. And everyone knows this Lamborghini.” “Not only that. Everyone also knows the two girls in the Lamborghini. We are inextricably tied to that role,” Buckman added.

Lamborghini Polo Storico
Lamborghini Polo Storico is the in-house department of Automobili Lamborghini in charge of the company’s historical heritage, managing and studying the company’s archive, and restoring and certifying historical Lamborghinis. Inaugurated in spring 2015 at the headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Lamborghini Polo Storico is the point of reference for collectors of classic Lamborghinis coming from all over the world, and it takes care of models from the first 350 GTV of 1963 up to the last Diablo produced in 2001.

Polo Storico’s activities focus on three main areas: the Archives, consisting of Automobili Lamborghini’s historical patrimony of technical and commercial information and documents; Certifications, representing the culmination of an in-depth process of documentary, archival and technical analyses of the car, concluding with the issue of a dedicated book certifying the authenticity of the car examined; and Restorations, carried out in full observance of the originality of the cars by a team of specialized technicians who work mostly in the Polo Storico workshop.

“As far back as when I was working for Lamborghini in the US, I had the opportunity to get to know this Countach LP 400 S and its extraordinary history. It’s a car that ignited a passion for the Lamborghini brand and for the Countach model in many young enthusiasts who, after growing up, came to us as customers of our brand and our cars. Although its specifications are not exactly the same as when it left the factory, it is undoubtedly historically important for Automobili Lamborghini and, as its entry into the Library of Congress certifies, for automotive culture and beyond, for the culture of an entire nation. As Lamborghini, we can only be filled with pride and we are happy to celebrate its 45th anniversary by reuniting the car with its unforgettable crew from the ‘Cannonball’ movie.”
