RM Sotheby’s Announces the First Streamliner-bodied Mercedes-Benz W196R ever Offered for Private Ownership

STUTTGART (January 27, 2025) – RM Sotheby’s, in association with Mercedes-Benz Heritage, present the sale of one of four known complete Stromlinienwagen-bodied examples of the 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196R, and the only one ever offered for private ownership. Among Chassis № 00009/54’s achievements are a victory at the 1955 Buenos Aires Grand Prix, driven by future five-time Drivers’ Champion Juan Manuel Fangio. It was also piloted by celebrated driver Sir Stirling Moss at the 1955 Italian Grand Prix at Monza, achieving fastest lap. The car is presented today with that streamlined bodywork. Donated in 1965 by Mercedes-Benz to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) Museum, this “unrepeatable opportunity” Mercedes-Benz W196R Stromlinienwagen is now offered from 59 years of fastidious care by the IMS Museum. Petersen Automotive Museum Charity Cruise-in Raises More than $140,000 for First Responders and Fire Recovery

LOS ANGELES (January 27, 2025) – Hundreds of Southern California car enthusiasts turned out under rainy skies to support first responders and fire recovery efforts at the Petersen Automotive Museum’s charity cruise-in on Sunday, Jan. 26. In partnership with Clarios, OPTIMA Batteries and Lotus Cars Americas, the museum raised more than $140,000, which will be donated to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and the LAPD West Bureau. 2025 Corvette ZR1 VIN 001 Raises $3.7 Million for Red Cross at Barrett-Jackson

(January 27,2025) – On Saturday, January 25th, the first retail production 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, VIN 001, sold at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction for $3.7 million. 100 percent of the hammer price of this Barrett-Jackson charity auction benefits the American Red Cross. Porsche Penske Motorsport Wins Rolex 24 at Daytona Back to Back

DATONA BEACH, Fla. (January 26, 2025) – Porsche Penske Motorsport earned its second consecutive win in the Rolex 24 At Daytona today at Daytona International Speedway, taking the top spot overall in the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship series opener. The No. 7 factory Porsche 963 and drivers Felipe Nasr (Brazil), Nick Tandy (Great Britain) and Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium) passed their sister No. 6 Porsche 963 with just over 20 minutes remaining in the race   to take the victory. The No. 6, co-driven by Mathieu Jaminet (France), Matt Campbell (Australia) and Kévin Estre (France), also earned a podium finish in third. The win is the 20th overall for Porsche in the endurance classic.

The No. 120 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R earned a class podium in GT Daytona (GTD) when Porsche contract driver Ayhancan Güven (Turkey), Americans Elliott Skeer and Adam Adelson, and Tom Sargent (Australia) finished in second place, 27th overall in the 61-car field.
