With final preparations underway for the third annual Air|Water Driven by Mobil 1 event on April 26 in Costa Mesa, CA, we can share more details about the many activations and vehicles visitors can expect.
As always, the all-inclusive Porsche experience – brought to you by the team behind the Luftgekühlt Porsche shows – promises to assault your senses with an unforgettable, curated collection of high-performance machines. Fans and owners of the marque can enjoy everything from street-driven to racing Porsches – both air- and water-cooled – from the earliest 356 to the latest 2025 models. And thanks to Porsche Cars North America, Air|Water ticket holders can experience the thrill and agility of the new 911 with a professional driver on a specialized course. This unforgettable opportunity will be available to A|W ticket holders free-of-change during event hours from 9AM to 3PM.
We previously confirmed that the 1985 McLaren MP4/2B powered by the Porsche-TAG turbo engine will be guest of honor at Air|Water Driven by Mobil 1 – but that’s not all! While the organizers choose to keep several surprises for visitors, we can reveal a number of attractions. And the first is an art installation by Joshua Vides.
As one of the hottest artists in the automotive field today, Joshua has become internationally known for his incredible black & white art cars that showcase his unique talent. The Southern California resident has worked in streetwear for more than a decade and applied his unique approach to a passion for cars. Joshua’s work was recently highlighted in a breathtaking installation in downtown Los Angeles, which captured the attention of gearheads around the world. Visitors to Air|Water Driven by Mobil 1 will be able to see and experience his work in the flesh.
Continuing with the creative theme, brand partners Mobil 1 and Optima Batteries will unveil brand new liveries for two Porsche race cars prepared by BBI Autosport and destined to tackle the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in June. The cars will be driven in the Race to the Clouds by Air|Water’s Creative Director Jeff Zwart and racer Loni Unser. Both machines will be unveiled in the Optima area by Jeff at 10:30AM.
Broad Arrow Auction
Broad Arrow returns to for its second annual all-Porsche auction in partnership with Air|Water Driven by Mobil 1. The live auction will take place from 11AM on April 26, allowing all Air|Water ticket holders to view or participate. Interested parties are also able to preview the selection of desirable cars and sought-after Porsche automobilia on Friday April 25 from 10AM until 5PM inside The Hangar building at the Air|Water venue.
Undoubtedly, one of the stars of the show will be the 1989 RUF CTR Yellowbird, which will go under the hammer with an estimated value of $4.5-5.5M. The estimation is based on it being one of only 29 Group C Turbo Ruf (CTR) Yellowbirds with the desirable W09 designation, indicating it was fully built in-house. The car was Factory authenticated with a RUF Zertifikat in 2016 and is the only Yellowbird specified with a special lightweight interior. The CTR is a fully matching numbers example with the 469hp 3.4-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine and RUF six-speed manual transmission. As such, it would be capable of the Yellowbird’s proven 213mph top speed. Full details are available HERE.
Other auction highlights include a 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach in Martini livery (estimated value $2.7-3M), 2005 Carrera GT ($1.8-2.1M), 1966 Porsche 906, 1990 Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer, 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 X88, 2012 RUF Rt 12 S with factory-fitted R-spec engine, 2019 911 Speedster, 2024 718 Spyder RS Weissach, and more. Details on all the cars are available HERE.
With last year’s Broad Arrow auction surpassing $15.6 million in total sales, the auction house is again looking forward to celebrating all things Porsche and is accepting consignments via broadarrowauctions.com.

Overcrest Productions and CSF Radiators has organized an off-site after-party for Air|Water attendees and Porsche enthusiasts to support the Overcrest Foundation. Called Harmony after Air|Water, it takes place on April 26 from 7-11PM at the Finish Line Auto Club in nearby Costa Mesa, CA.
The event will feature a select display of Porsches, food and drinks, live music, and plenty of atmosphere. It’s also the launch party for the Overcrest Foundation 501C charity and will help to raise funds that can be disbursed by the charity throughout the year. In fact, CSF has generously agreed to cover the event costs, ensuring all proceeds from the party will go to the Foundation.
The After-Party is a ticketed event, with a minimum donation of $20 requested for each person. Early registrants can pick up their wristband at the show, or visit either Overcrest or CSF at Air|Water to register in person. Tickets are available HERE.

Luftgekühlt 11 announced
Dedicated exclusively to air-cooled Porsche models, the host city for Luftgekühlt 11 has finally been announced: We’re heading to Durham, NC on October 4!
This will be the first time Luft has held the event on the East Coast, giving air-cooled Porsche fans a unique opportunity to experience what makes the event series so special. It also means Air|Water is the only chance for West Coast enthusiasts to participate in 2025.
More details about the Luft 11 venue will be revealed in due course, as well as the date for ticket sales. We should caution the event will almost certainly sell-out, so mark your calendars and follow @luftgekuhlt or sign up for the newsletter at luftgekuhlt.com to ensure you hear the news first!
